We started seeing a ton of new ways to mount accessories to a rifle. But somewhere around the turn of the millennium, that changed. For almost a century, we stuck to the battle-tested 1913 picatinny rail design. In the last decade or two, we’ve seen an explosion in the number of optic mounting systems out there.
